WNBA Playoffs: Aces, Sky, Lynx Advance to Semifinals
Dream, Sun, Sparks, Wings Eliminated
Las Vegas Aces, Chicago Sky, and Minnesota Lynx have advanced to the semifinals of the WNBA playoffs, eliminating the Atlanta Dream, Connecticut Sun, Los Angeles Sparks, and Dallas Wings.
The Aces swept the Dream in two games, while the Sky defeated the Sun in three games and the Lynx eliminated the Sparks in three games. The Wings, who had a bye in the first round, lost to the Sky in two games.
The semifinals will begin on Tuesday, September 6, with the Aces facing the Sky and the Lynx taking on the Sun. The winners of those series will advance to the WNBA Finals, which will begin on Sunday, September 11.
The Aces are the defending champions and are looking to become the first team to repeat since the Los Angeles Sparks in 2001-02. The Sky are making their third straight appearance in the semifinals, while the Lynx are seeking their fifth WNBA title.
The Sun, who were the No. 1 seed in the playoffs, were eliminated in the second round for the second consecutive year. The Sparks, who won the championship in 2016, have not advanced past the second round since 2017.
The WNBA playoffs have been full of surprises so far, and the semifinals promise to be just as exciting. With three of the league's top four teams still alive, the race for the championship is wide open.
